Our products, such as Tsunami DQ, control many types of aquatic growth, such as duckweed, water hyacinth, pondweeds, and coontail. This product is safe when used according to label directions, and it is important to treat in sections to avoid rapid oxygen depletion when treating excessive pond growth.

Tsunami DQ should be used for pond weeds, with a wait of 14 days between applications and only treating a 1/2 or 1/3 of the pond at a time to recover oxygen levels. It is a contact herbicide, and the best results are achieved by spraying over the top of the growth you are treating. The recommended usage is 2-8 quarts per surface acre, depending on the infestation and type of weed.

The best time to treat pond weeds is when they are actively growing, and water temperatures are above 60F. Our step-by-step pond maintenance process includes using pond dye to enhance the color of your pond or lake all year long, pond bacteria to safely and effectively break down muck and dead vegetation, and algaecides to kill algae and maintain water quality. For submerged weed control, we recommend using Tsunami DQ, and for emerged weed control, we offer a Diquat formula that kills surface and submerged weeds that are copper resistant, including hard-to-kill weeds like duckweed.
